Why I Love This Sausage Appetizer

Kicking off my garden party series with this yummy cherry sausage appetizer. This cherry sausage appetizer is easy to make, with minimal hands-on time so you can work on other party items!

Most of us have probably had grape meatballs at parties, and this cherry sausage is along those same lines. There’s something awesome about a salty-sweet combo with just a touch of heat. I think the best way to eat this sausage is on its own with a fork. You can make mini sliders or pair them with cornbread for a more hearty appetizer.

Keep reading this week's post to learn all about this sausage appetizer.

Tips For A Perfect Cherry Sausage Appetizer

In order to make this sausage great, you’ll first want to get the sausage golden brown. If you have an instant pot or ninja, I recommend using it. By using an instant pot (or something similar), this is a one-pot dish, that’s a huge advantage when prepping for a party. It’s hard to find an appetizer that is mostly hands-off and only uses one pot.

Second, taste the sauce after you get it mixed together. If you are using any pepper, add it in small increments, mix well, and then taste. Continue to do that until you are happy with the level of heat.

Third, if you want to impress your guests, use homemade spicy mustard. If you use that, you could probably omit the pepper altogether. Again, I would start with a small amount (less than the recipe calls for), mix well and taste. Repeat until the level of mustard/spice is where you want it.

How To Serve This Sausage Appetizer

For me, it’s easiest to serve this right out of the Ninja. I have a clear lid and an easy-to-use silicone mitt so guests won’t get burned. Using a slotted spoon is easiest, and allows guests to decide how much sauce they’d like on their plate.

You could pair the sausage with buns for mini sliders. They may be very saucy, and I would recommend having something pickled (jalapenos or pickles) for guests to add if going this route. Another great topping would be coleslaw, and it would be on the theme for a garden party.

Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks for my entire garden party series.
