Why I Love Homemade Yogurt In The Oven

Does yogurt get any easier than yogurt in the oven? With literally 2 ingredients and a few pots, I can have yogurt.

The first time I made yogurt was after reading Indian-ish by Priya Krishna. Her book came to me as a recommendation from a friend. When I say I read it, I mean I read the book. How the book is written is with personal stories and recipes. It’s well worth the read! I’ve found a few favorite recipes in the book.

When I first made yogurt it did seem to take a while as far as waiting. Overall I was happy with the process but I’m always looking for other ways to make my life easier.

Homemade Yogurt In The Oven

While I enjoyed the yogurt from the oven, I knew my ninja had a yogurt setting. That’s what I explored next.

If you choose to try making yogurt in the oven, I recommend starting early in the morning as the length of time in the oven (also known as fermentation) varies.

If you want a flavored yogurt, add fruit when eating the yogurt. For a thicker yogurt, use a nylon strainer to strain off the whey.

I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, but I will say if I did yogurt in the oven again, I would mix in 1 cup of heavy whipping cream. I believe that may help it set up a little faster in the oven. This is just a thought, I haven’t tested it out yet.
