What Is A Virtual Book Club?

A virtual book club is a great way to learn and connect with others. These book clubs can be done from anywhere - there are no meetups to attend. Members share what they are making from the book. We have certain chapters we work through in certain months.

It's free to join, and there are trivia questions to keep people engaged throughout the virtual book club. If this sounds interesting, keep reading today's post to learn more!

Where Did The Inspiration For A Virtual Book Club Come From?

In 2023 my friend at A Homesteading Kind Of Life hosted a virtual book club for the book Attainable Sustainable. I believe she has posted in another Facebook group about her group.

I was one of maybe two people who resided in the USA (not Canada), but the group welcomed me with open arms.

This was the first time I participated in any book club. I knew I wanted to learn more about homesteading, being more sustainable, and just doing things DIY vs buying. Attainable Sustainable as a book club was such a fun thing! During this book club, I learned about fermenting (including sourdough), raising animals, gardening, and more!

She also introduced things to me like Canuary, Fermented February, and Make It March - more on those in a different post! Can you believe I learned all that from a Virtual Book Club?!

What Books Clubs Has Angie Hosted In The Past?

I typically host book clubs from November to February - this is what I consider "the winter months" and fits my schedule. I don't typically garden during these months, so I find myself with free time.

Mint green book cover titled "The Handbook of Forgotten Skills." Illustrations of a needle, paper airplane, and more adorn the vintage design.

Jars of preserves and bottled drinks on a table, with text: "can it, bottle it, smoke it" by Karen Solomon. Blue background, colorful jars.

For 2025, I'm writing this post in March and I don't have the book picked yet. I have a few ideas though. The book club will be hosted right here on my site (vs normally I host on Facebook).

Another fun thing I do for my virtual book club is I always ask the author if they would like to attend. They don't always agree, but it is so neat when they join.

If you are interested in participating, create an account on my site and join the club! If you have participated in my previous book clubs, let me know in the comments below!
